Garfield jumping and urging me to take a pic of him at the Willis (ummm…it should be Sears!) Tower. Explains why he’s blurry.
Chicago is definitely one of the best North American cities that Garfield and I have ever visited. Friendly people, great food, fantastic shopping and awesome nightlife! Oh, and I failed to mention Chicago has one of the most spectacular skylines on the face of this planet! As with most big cities, traffic can be terrible and parking is very expensive! Read on to find out why the city might be coined, “The Big Onion”. Where Is Garfield Now?
Snappy Facts:
- The name Chicago originated from the Indian word, “shikaakwa”, meaning “wild onion”.
- The Chicago River used to flow to Lake Michigan. The flow was reversed after building several locks and levies and extended to flow into the Mississippi River.
- Before the great fire, Chicago had huge a meat packing industry and was responsible for many U.S. exports to Europe. (Ed: BACON!!! YES, WE HAVE TO INSERT A BACON REFERENCE WHERE WE CAN!!)
- What happened after the great fire? Chicago rebuilt itself. It is the birthplace of the modern-day skyscraper, and became the home of a few schools of architecture!
