Jezza’s Film Follies (Out Takes)

Flat Iron Rear End

So like I mentioned in my previous follies post, I had my ISO set to 400 instead of 50, and well, the first half of my roll wasn’t so great. (more…)

A Weekend of Music In Toronto

image

Yonge-Dundas Square – Panorama during The New Pornographers concert.

I had the pleasure of roaming around Toronto during the weekend and enjoy some great music, courtesy of two annual music festivals running in town: NXNE and the TD Toronto Jazz Festival.

This was also a great opportunity to try out if the camera in my phone (a Samsung Galaxy S6) was as good as Samsung had advertised.  All the photos scattered in this post were taken with the phone. I’ll say – right now – that if handled correctly, this phone’s camera is downright jaw-dropping! Let’s enjoy reading about both delights.

The I-80 in Wyoming after a Storm

After coming away fresh from Jon’s Ilford PanF 50 challenge, I was itching to find a really nice go-to, everyday, black and white film.  Don’t get me wrong – PanF is a great film, but I thought that it needed special handling just because of its lower ISO.  Because of this, I wanted my film to have more of an ability handle a “run and gun” shot since I commute to and from work. What can I try out next?  Enter Ilford’s Delta 100 film.

Jezza’s Film Follies (Part 1)

'What the hell are you?'

‘What the hell are you?’

As our newest editor stated here, I issued a challenge to him (and myself really) to do a film shoot out.  We both have Nikon film cameras that were collecting dust, and we were getting back into the whole film thing.

For a while we’ve shot film here and there since moving on to digital – both of us started photography when digital wasn’t even a thing yet.  (I just wanted to get that out of the way so this makes us non-hipsters LoL.) So during one of our Hangout sessions (Google Hangouts – since I’m in NYC and Alvin’s in GTA) (more…)

Alvin’s Film Follies (The Part I Out Takes)

Hey, no one’s perfect!  Here are some of the shots from my roll of PanF that could be filed under G (or were precariously close to it.)

A couple months ago, my buddy Jon issued a challenge: Shoot a single roll of Ilford PanF with a Nikon SLR (in my case, a F90x) and a 50mm lens (AF Nikkor 50/1.8 D), using only manual settings.  We were free to choose who would develop the film and scan it.  (more…)

RANDOM FLICKR PHOTO OF THE DAY – May 22, 2014

I just shot this earlier tonight, coming home from a shoot.  The Empire State Building was framed nicely, and was barely peeking out from the fog.

This is an oldy, but quite the goody. I found this bug or beetle sitting lifeless on our floor leading out to the deck. Thought before I discarded it, I should take few photos.

Random Flickr Photo of the Day – April 24, 2014

It’s been a while since I did one of these. I have been slacking a lot on so many things, this blog included. Just too much ‘life’ stuff going on, but hopefully it will get settled soon enough.
But anyway, I give you this photo I took the other day with my HTC One M8, taken during my lunch hour. I tell you I am loving this phone so much. It’s so nice seeing beautiful colours again.
