Walks with my son: Pentax M50 F/1.7

Today was a bit on the tougher side in terms of taking photos.  While I was poking around in the basement trying to look for a cable, I found my photography bin and stumbled across my Pentax M50 F/1.7 manual lens (that’s the ‘M’ in the M50 in case you’re not a photo gear geek).  I love this, no, I adore this lens, but it being manual, and my eye’s not being the greatest, I always struggled to use it.

I think I did OK with my shots today.  Taking multiple shots of one object since I couldn’t really nail the focus on the first try.  I did try peaking, which my Pentax K3 has, but w/ the sun bearing down on me, and no form of screen shade, that was just as tough.

All shots were in Doylestown, PA, and as mentioned above, my body of choice was the Pentax K3.  Processed in Lightroom to taste.

Walks with my son: Doylestown, PA

So I will be renaming or, at least putting ‘Random Photos’ series on a break for the time being, and adding the above mentioned title. It is more fitting since I usually do these when I take my son out for a walk, or when we as a family go out for a walk.

I will try to use different camera and lens combos so at least each set of shots that I do will be somewhat different. I hope you enjoy these as much as I have enjoyed taking them. For the first set of shots, I took with us my Pentax K3 with the SMC Pentax 100mm F/2.8 WR Macro mounted for our walk.

We walked by someones front garden filled with flowers, and it was quite active with bees doing their thing. All shots were edited in Lightroom to taste.

Random Photos – Doylestown, PA 3

I’m going to be honest, there’s probably going to be an abundant amount of random photos from Doylestown.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing though.

Shot with Fujifilm X100S, processed to taste in Lightroom.

(Note: I hope the bird survived.  We almost stepped on him.  Not sure if he’s able to move anymore at all.)

Random Photos – Doylestown, PA

Hey everyone! I know it’s been a while since we have done a serious stream of posts. Life has been crazy to say the least. I am now a proud new father, and just that alone has taken up my free time. Leading up to this, with all the preparations has eaten up every fiber of my being, as well as my wife. Anyhow, I am hoping to start a new series of posts, simply called ‘Random Photos’ and with a sub-heading of the town I happen to be taking those photos.

Today’s entry is from my current home town, Doylestown, PA. I shot these with a Fuji X100S in raw, edited in Adobe Lightroom to taste. Oh, and I suck at street photography, so bear with it. LoL

2016 Thompson Bucks County Classic – Part 1

Men's Amateur Racers speeding through the streets of Doylestown

Men’s Amateur Racers speeding through the streets of Doylestown

As I mentioned in my last article (seen here), the Thompson Bucks County Classic is one of my favorite events to watch in person every year. The action is fast and furious, and every year as the crowds get bigger, the electricity and the energy just gets multiplied with each passing lap. This year there were 4 races that took place. The Amateur Men’s kicked the day off, followed by the Kid’s Races.  Also, the Classic’s first ever Lenape Scorcher Race took place. (the bikes known as Penny Farther, or Big Front Wheels)

And then we have our Pro Women’s, and Pro Men’s. Of course, in the center of all this action was the Doylestown Arts fest. Sadly, Alvin and I were not able to really soak in the Arts fest for one reason or another. It did seem fun, and definitely a lot activity taking place as we walked through the fest a few times to get from one place to the next.

Early specators

Early spectators

In years past, I really just approached the weekend as a spectator, taking in the sights and sounds. In the last few years though, I have been taken up in capturing the event, trying to share the joy I get when I watch the race unfold before my eyes. (more…)

Jezza’s Digital Follies – So many (cell-phone) cameras! (and some horses)

NEF_0139

Recently, the world famous Budweiser Clydesdale horses rode through town to do a beer run.  They actually had to drop off a case of Bud at each of the local bars.  Well in any case, it became a spectacle.  I wasn’t actually expecting it to be that ‘chaotic’.  I’m not really going to talk about the horses.  Sure, they were magnificent beasts, all very well mannered and groomed to perfection.  No, I really want to talk about the cell phone or ‘iPhone-tography’ (is that what it is really called?) that’s just the craze these days.
