KEPT YOU WAITING HUH?!
Well, Rose, judging by my current calendar, tomorrow will be March 19th, 2014. This means you either have had the game already for a whole day, OR, for many MGS fans around the world awaiting the release of MGSV: Ground Zeroes this means that the game will be available for mass consumption in a few days (March 20, 2014). And sadly, for those living in Australia and New Zealand you will have to wait A WHOLE FUCKING WEEK. For those who live in North America like me, today (March 18, 2014) is the day!
I won’t have access to the game just yet until later today but in the meantime I downloaded and installed the Ground Zeroes companion app that’s accessible via the IOS appstore or Google Play. I still have yet to install it on my 4S but I already have it sitting nicely on my HTC One among some of my favorite games.
[Btw, Deus Ex: The Fall is one of the best, if not THE best full blown stealth games to exist on any mobile platform IMO. Kojima needs to take notes.]
It’s about a 30+mb install file so nothing too beefy to take up needed space if you’re a stickler for ample storage like I am. The app opens up to a nice splash screen which you then tap and brings you to disclaimer screen. Just AGREE, because really, who’s gonna DISAGREE?
Yadda Yadda Yadda, scroll, tap, and BAM, you’re taken to the menus. Here you’ll see a number of choices that are accessible to you. Tapping on each section brings up a brief description of each one, whereas tapping the corresponding ARROW next to it scrolls to the input area. Since I don’t have the game yet I can’t set it up properly but you get the basic idea from these pics.

This app seems to be pretty versatile. It’s not just a throwaway app with little minigames, it actually helps you further your missions as you progress. It’s not unlike some of the already existing companion apps for our current fare of games.
An interesting thing to note is that the app takes advantage of the mobile phone’s accelerometer. It’s a bit gimmicky as only the title screen and menus seem to make use of the floppy effects.
Once I get my hands on the actual game I’ll definitely make use of this free app. As stated, the MGSV: Ground Zeroes app is available on Google Play as well as the AppStore.
