Snappy Fridays – How to Unwind…

…after a terrible commute home?

Cook yourself a quick, but great meal to enjoy with your kid!  This was cooked in about 1/2 hour and in our stomachs in about 10 minutes!

How’s that for “snappy”?  XD

We here at Just Wrote A Blog try to give you the best possible content in a timely manner, even though we’ve sucked at it in the past.  I myself got a little carried away with my 3-part ‘Weekend with Canon’ mini series, and did not take into account a couple of things.  One of them is how massive the jpg’s are (converted from RAW) on a 50 MP camera.  File sizes ranged from 30-43 MB.  I will need to maneuver a few things around so you all can have access the full size JPG’s, as well as small enough files for the normal blog.  The blog entry itself is a bit of all over the place, so I need to refine that a scoche.

So while we fix these issues, please enjoy a photo of some beets (above)   that I took with the 5DS and the filthy fifty (50mm F/1.2 L)

As always, leave us a comment or like us on FB and or here.  And while you’re at it, might as well follow us too, so you don’t miss out on timely missed content =P

Earworm: X Ambassadors – Renegades

So this song has been plaguing my subconscious for some time now since it has been used in the Jeep Renegade commercial.  I think that vehicle is ugly, but I am thankful for it’s existence since it has introduced me to this wonderful earworm worthy song.

Enjoy the harmonious harmony of  XA

Probably My Best shot in the roll?

I was sifting through some boxes in an effort to remove some junk in my room and discovered an unused roll of expired Fuji Superia X-TRA 400.

Weekend With Canon (A 3-Part Mini-Series) – Part “the first”: The Body of the 5DS

It’s nice of Canon to reminds us to Bring It.  You know: extra memory cards, batteries, lenses, etc.

Thank you to Fotocare for holding this rental for me.  <-Useless plug, well maybe.

Let me get something out of the way first. Canon’s 5DS is the first Canon DSLR that I have spent any significant time with. I have shot DRebels, and A 7D Mk1, but only for a few shots, and really just a quick look with some of my various friends gears.

Having said that, the main reason why I never really considered Canon (more…)

Union Station and L Condominiums

Union Station and L Condominiums – Curves adjusted in post.

I find it funny that I’m still hunting for my favourite everyday black and white film, but I shouldn’t be surprised – there is so much variety in terms of brands, product lines and film speed to choose from.  As you know, I’ve limited my choices to 100 speed film.  When I discussed some of my findings with Jon he popped me a question: Why I haven’t tried the Kodak T-Max yet?  To be honest, the thought never really crossed my mind.

Shoot out!

Shooting Canon’s 5DS has been challenging to say the least.  Challenging in a sense that I truly hate it’s ergonomics.

Anyway, resolution wise my old D700 won’t be able to keep up, but let’s see how my Nikkor 50mm F/1.4D holds up against the much more expensive and much bigger Canon 50mm F1.2 L II

Will be shooting comparison shots throughout the day.  Stay tuned.
