Jeez, Talk About Clones…(UPDATE)

image

I know the MGS saga has clones aplenty but this is ridiculous. OK, it’s really not that much about clones this time around. I’m just getting at the fact that Kojima has released a comparison video for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The video, which you can watch below, showcases the graphical power of all four systems that MGSV: GZ is to be released on. the PS3, 360, PS4, and XB1 are churning out superb graphical output in my opinion. Of course there are to be differences to take notice of, what with the PS4 and XB1 being the newer more powerful of the bunch. But it’s really safe to say that the game looks fucking amazing across the board. No need to fuss about intricacies unless you really are the type to gloss over every fucking pixel and polygon. Oh, did I mention it looks FUCKING AMAZING? Yes, FUCKING A-MA-ZING.

UPDATE:

This GIF I found is not exactly too relevant at this point but showcases the differences between the first time and second time that the MGSV:GZ gameplay trailer were released.

You can see that the blue tint in the second instance has been added in favor of the greener subdued look for a more dramatic tone. The lighting on Chico’s face for example is brightened in contrast to the background to give a him a more frightened emotion. It shows us how grim the consequences of his supposed actions are.

UPDATE:

Here’s a quick gif I found of the PS3 VS PS4. Pretty big difference in resolution if it’s THAT important to any of you.

Looks like Konami has posted some comparo shots of MGSV across the four platforms spanning two generations. PS3 next to PS4 and 360 with XB1. While it IS obvious that the now current gen pics look nothing less than stunning, the last gen shots are no slouch either. Better lighting, shadows, and overall sharpness in detail do stand out on the PS4/XB1, contrasting the ps3/360 versions fuzzier, less focused counterpart. But let’s not make this an SNES VS GENESIS battle, OK?

Current Gen/Next Gen Comparison Chart
image

Konami even made a Friggin chart for goodness sake! Honestly, they ALL look great. Plus, the newer generation of systems are more powerful. There is no real argument here. The only thing we gamers need fret over is which to get, and that depends on which console you already own. If you own current gen then make it all the more viable by purchasing for them. If you’re like me and own last gen, then make the appropriate choice. Or you could buy the game and then wait, save money, then buy the next gen console that corresponds to the game at hand. Either way its WIN WIN.

I did run into this which had me cracking up, Hahahahaha:

MGSV drops next month so lets be glad it isn’t exclusive on one system or the other.

Calvin & Hobbes (1985-1986 Reissue 001)

[Calvin & Hobbes is one of the best comic strips to have come into existence in the latter part of the 20th century. This strip, created by the awesome Bill Watterson, ran for a decade, from November 18, 1985 to December 31, 1995. As a kid I discovered the first ever collection of strips in book form self titled Calvin & Hobbes in a local bookstore. As I glanced through the first few pages I became instantly hooked. It centers on a 6 year old boy Calvin, and his stuffed toy aka best friend come to imaginary life Hobbes, and their adventures about life. It’s a truly remarkable series that I’d like to share with you boys and girls. As that sharing goes, I’ll do my best to pepper in a strip as time goes on. Enjoy!]

The Last Days Of FOXHOUND (reissue 010 – A Mantis For All Seasons)

[The Last Days of FOXHOUND is a fan made comic that I stumbled upon a few years ago while perusing the Internetz as an MGS fan. This strip, created by a fellow MGS fan named Chris Douchette, ran this comic from 2003-2008. I was lucky enough to run into all 500 completed pages and wanted to share them with all of you readers. I’ll try to reiterate each and every consecutive page as time goes on. Most of the humor stems from the going on throughout the MGS series, so those who aren’t too familiar may find themselves slightly lost. My solution: play the MGS games. You guys wouldn’t be here anyways if you haven’t at least played MGS1. Anywho, enjoy!]

LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga: My Three Platform Comparo (UPDATE)

image

UPDATE:
I decided to have some more fun with this article and add my own Star Wars crawl with the content written before you. I’ve broken them down into three parts, thereby giving each section their own Crawl. Apologies for the lack of SW theme as I would have run into some copyright issues. So just imagine the SW theme song playing as you watch the subsequent clips. Enjoy!

Anyone who’s anyone knows that Lego not only makes awesome toys, but is associated with great games. From licenses to franchises such as DC Comics own Batman, to Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings, Lego has aligned themselves with some heavy hitters. Another such series which has a huge following is Star Wars.

Put Your Grandma In An MGS Game

image

OK,  so not everyone would put their grandmother in an MGS  game. but with this Kinect Rig you could if you wanted to. I would! She could be in some cutscenes talking to Big Boss, nagging him during dangerous missions via Codec.

Ari Shapiro of the Institute for Creative Technologies at USC thinks doing such things Is possible. He rigged a Kinect to his 3D rendering software and had an associate stand and be captured from all sides, rendering a damn near identical likeness of him. He then fused the avatars to a 3D skeleton with preprogrammed movements, and the result is a cyberspace version of himself jumping, kicking, and downward punching as if he were literally living and breathing on the screen. Check out the link below for the video. It’s as if TRON happened in real life, only without all the neon spandex.

This could very well prove to be an invaluable piece of tech over the next 5 to 10 years of this now current generation of gaming consoles. We could see realistic 3D renders of ourselves in a PS4 or XB1 game sooner than we think. And grandma can duck behind corners or cardboard boxes while snacking on a ration.

Earworm: Everything Is AWESOME!!! — The LEGO® Movie — Tegan and Sara feat. The Lonely Island

I just saw the Lego Movie this weekend, and it was quite awesome. Having said that, they had this song in the movie called ‘Everything is Awesome’, and it I have been humming it since I left the theater. Granted my nephews kept singing it too, but, it didn’t matter, the song was an earworm to me. It’s sung by Tegan and Sara with The Lonely Island doing the rap. The lyrics are great, and the beat is so bubbly, it actually lifted my spirits up a bit. Anyway, enjoy the song, and oh yeah, go see the movie, it’s awesome!
