Whether or not any of you readers watched the superbowl yesterday (i don’t care for it personally), there were a slew of tv spots as usual, as with every year. One of them stood out and was actually the only thing worth watching about the superbowl at all, well aside from the Bruno Mars section, which may I say was awesome.

Guys and gals, JACK IS BACK!!! Kiefer Sutherland will reprise his role as hard nosed Counter Terrorists specialist Naked Snake Jack Bauer in the 9th long awaited season of 24. Also making a return is Mary Lynn Rajskub aka Chloe O’Brien. Here are the two tv spots which aired yesterday:

I’ve personally not had a chance to play my Mass Effect Trilogy, aside from the two demos that exist on PSN but suffice it to say, it’s a great franchise. I can’t speak for myself here but, Robin apparently feels that ME 3’s ending wasn’t that good. I’d like to find out for myself, hahaha.

What did the five fingers say to the face?

Sometimes us gamers need a little break from the typical FPS shooter, sports game, or anything action oriented. A video game doesn’t have to make you pull a trigger or slam dunk all the time, right? There are days where actually using your brain would be that much more satisfying. That’s where Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons comes in.

The Last Days Of FOXHOUND (reissue 008 – Mark Of The Raven)

[The Last Days of FOXHOUND is a fan made comic that I stumbled upon a few years ago while perusing the Internetz as an MGS fan. This strip, created by a fellow MGS fan named Chris Douchette, ran this comic from 2003-2008. I was lucky enough to run into all 500 completed pages and wanted to share them with all of you readers. I’ll try to reiterate each and every consecutive page as time goes on. Most of the humor stems from the going on throughout the MGS series, so those who aren’t too familiar may find themselves slightly lost. My solution: play the MGS games. You guys wouldn’t be here anyways if you haven’t at least played MGS1. Anywho, enjoy!]

Old Snake With New Tricks

image

Hideo Kojima posted this photo on his Twitter, saying, “Game development now and then.” I got hit with a touch of nostalgia, having played every MGS game from Metal Gear (MSX) to MGS Peace Walker (PSP, PS3, 360), and owning each game at least 3 times over. Some better than others, but I love all the games.

image

From the days of the PSX to the now current generation of consoles in the PS4 and Xbox One, MGS has evolved over time, not just in story and gameplay, but from a visual POV. Our beloved Snake, whether Solid or Naked, has transformed with every new Metal Gear, bringing him closer and closer to reality. The more powerful gaming machines become the more we get closer to that Legendary Soldier, and it shows. MGSV Ground Zeroes is a testament to that evolution. From sharp polygons to pin point accurate photorealistic incarnations, Snake has never looked more lifelike, to the point where you can almost shake his hand.

On the photo from left to right, is Solid Snake from PSX (though rendered in the FOX Engine for PlayStation exclusive DLC), and Big Boss from the upcoming prologue MGSV Ground Zeroes. The differences in generations are quite remarkable. And if nothing else, this is just nudging me to want MGSV GZ even more. OK, I already own the game in my heart and mind, but ya. Ground Zeroes drops sometime in the next few months. As always I’ll do a First Impressions for you ladies and gents.

Stay classy…

Tomb Raider Comic

Hot off the heels of the successful reboot of Tomb Raider, comes a comic book by Dark Horse comics. The story line will take place right after the events of the game, and will be written by Gail Simone. I haven’t been in the comics game in a while, but this excites me. I don’t know, I am in full Tomb Raider mode. The reboot totally won me over. Check out the preview art below.

Tomb Raider (Definitive Edition) Quick Screen Cap. Comparo / Impressions

I just finished playing a few minutes of Tomb Raider – Definitive Edition (TR-DE) and took a couple of screen captures.  I did the same on the PC side.  Well, see for yourself.

Tomb Raider – Definitive Edition (PS4 finally gets some use!)

Last year’s reboot of Tomb Raider was, one of my favorite games that came out last year, and perhaps one of my favorite games of all time.  Graphics were great, controls were tight, and the story was right up there.  Supporting cast was, well, not very supportive, but Lara herself had enough gusto to carry everything in her young shoulders.  Fast forward to about roughly a year (OK so about 11 months and change), Tomb Raider: (more…)
