Damien Rice Has Worms

OK so the title for this post shouldn’t be taken seriously. It’s just some wordplay so if I’ve alarmed any Damien Rice fans I apologize. It’s a general thing I do when posting any subject matter related to an Earworm post. Such as The Blower’s Daughter, a Rice track that hit real big in 2001, and was included in the OST to the 2004 movie Closer. (more…)

Earworm: Foolish Games – Jewel

I recently listened to Jewel’s greatest hits album, and it sort of brought back memories of when she was really big back in the 90’s.  Yes, it’s not the typical music I listen to these day’s, but back then, I was still sort of discovering anything outside of the top pop hits that were being played on the radio.  I didn’t get a say to what music was being played in the car, and I didn’t really care much for music outside of the car back then.  Anyway, Jewel was probably one of my first musical crushes.  She’s just so beautiful, and such a powerful voice.  Anyway, here’s one of my all time favorite songs of hers.

Here’s also a nice  version that is found on the greatest hits album, it’s a duet with Kelly Clarkson.  I really enjoyed this one as well.

Kotobukiya Female Commander Shepard Figure

I was able to finally pick up this figure of Female Commander Shepard of Mass Effect fame.  It went on sale at Forbidden Planet, a NYC comic book shop for 50 beans, so I picked one up.  I’ve been wanting to get a Kotobukya figure for a while, and with a $20 price drop, I could not pass it up. After taking some photos of it, I am very happy with the level of detail and fit and finish of it.  Below is a quicky shot.  I will post up the rest shortly.

Earworm: Tegan and Sara – Closer

I didn’t like this song at first, but the more I heard it, I grew to love it.  It’s so catchy, and sort of reminds me of Franz Ferdinands “Take Me Out“.  Enjoy

Earworm: Just Give Me A Reason – P!nk Ft. Nate Ruess

First of all, I would like to apologize for posting this.  I know some of you may like this, but I do not.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s an OK song…wait, never mind, I just really don’t like it.  They overplay it on the radio.  Just yesterday, all three of my usual morning stations were playing the song at the same time!  It gets regular rotations on Sirius‘ Hit’s 1, Top 20, and the Pulse.  And it’s been stuck on my head.  I probably wouldn’t mind it so much if fun. didn’t get so much air play too.  I am just not a big fan of fun.  Nate Ruess just sounds like a man that just inhaled helium, and at the same time got kicked in the gonads.

Anyway, here is the video.

A trio of new GTA V trailers.

Yeah, it’s been a while since I actually posted something.  Long story, won’t go into it.  I have a few drafts pending, but I just can’t get in the time to finish anything at the moment.  I will make it up soon.

Anyway, I will leave you with three new released trailers for the upcoming fifth installment of Grand Theft Auto.  Enjoy (I know I did.  I cannot wait for this game.)

Earworm: Istanbul (Not Constantinople) – Milan & Phoenix

I recently heard this on SiriusXM recently, I can’t believe this was covered.  I am so glad that Milan & Phoenix just did their own spin on it, and not ruin the song. (Unlike Pitbull and Christina Aguilera’sFeel This Moment” which sample’s what could arguably be one of the 80’s best songs, A-Ha‘s Take On Me, but that’s another topic for another time).  I enjoy this remake, and it’s a nice break from the daily drudgery of today’s pop music.  I first heard this song back in the 90’s from Loony Tunes.  I later found out it was a song by They Might Be Giants.  (they also did a bit for another TMBG song, Triangle Man).  It’s such a fun song, and i’ve been humming it on and off.  The video is fun too, playing on the old silent films.  Enjoy the video, as well as the Loony Tunes version.

Taylor Swift – Trouble: Goat edition

This is not really an earworm, but something funny and to break up the dullness of the day. I saw this a few day’s ago, and it’s been making the rounds across the interwebs. I even heard it this AM on the Scott & Todd Morning show on WPLJ. Everytime you hear the original song, you can’t help but think of this version.

Earworm: My Life – .50 Cent Gt. Eminem & Adam Levine

I first the heard Eminem‘s distinct rap as I was half listening to the radio a few day’s ago.  I looked at the song title on my SiriusXM and I saw ‘ My Life – .50 Cent, Eminem, Adam Levine.  I was taken aback for a second, and had to rewind the song.  Now after listening to it a few times since, at first I was sort of disappointed with Fitty’s opening rap, but then he did pick it up in his second one.  Em’s is as alway’s good, and I guess, it’s not so weird with Maroon 5‘s Adam Levine doing the hook, as Eminem has done collaborations with Taylor Swift and Dido in the past.  All in all is a good song, and it’s nice to see .50 back.

Earworm: Smooth Criminal – Michael Jackson [and Alien Ant Farm Cover]

For the past few day’s, this song has come up in 2 separate conversations with 2 totally different people.  And Annie has been stuck in my head since.  I think I like this song more cause of the music video.  That lean that they did was just epic.  And for reason’s unbeknownst to me, this song was made into a video game by Sega, titled Moonwalker.   Alien Ant Farm also covered this song some years ago, and it was a nice faithful rock rendition, and the video for that was just a big homage to the King of Pop.  As always, the Michael Jackson video is filled with amazing choreography, and his distinct dance moves.

Enjoy
