Earworm: “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire/(Remix by Mr Little Jeans)

I first heard the remix while watching a skateboarding video, and I decided to do a little digging. The song was actually an Arcade Fire song, and the originally sung by a man. The remix has a female’s voice. Both versions are amazing, I don’t have a preference. The original is more lighthearted, while the remix is more techno-ish.
(Wow, this is a surprise to me. Indie music is rising in my genre collection. I’m taking a liking to it. Oh well. Broadening my horizon, unlike a certain Mr. Bruce…)

Anyway, here is the video for the original song by Arcade Fire.

And the cover/remix by Mr Little Jeans.

Did I forget to mention that the cover/remix video has Alessandra Ambrosio in it? Yes? Well now you know.

Earworm: Here Comes the Rain Again – Eurythmics

First full day of Vacation, and a severe thunderstorm just happens to roll by, thus eliminating any chances of outdoor fun by the beaches of the Outerbanks.  In the last I don’t know, how ever many weeks since the 2nd half of July, it’s been raining at  a steady rate.  It’s all good, since we don’t have much of a drought problem, but it just kind of sucks at the same time.

I don’t particularly like rain since being in the city with  a lot of people, and being a tall dude, the umbrella’s just seem to be at my eye level, and other pedestrians just seem to not care.  Anyway, every time it rains, we just start singing ‘Here Comes the Rain Again’ by the Eurythmics, and as it was doing just that, I started humming it again, and again, and again.

Earworm: “Take on Me” by A-ha

Okay, when you insult Take on Me, you cross the line. This is by far one of my favorite songs, and I am sorry, but if you don’t think that it is one of the greatest songs ever (or even argue that it is not music), you have no taste in music. It is a necessity on a list of top songs. For me, it would be number 7.

My buddy, who I shall refer to as Bruce for the sake of anonymity, and I were skateboarding at an indoor skatepark, and the stereo system started blasting 80s and 90s jams, and this classic hit was the first on the playlist.
I screamed, “YES THIS IS BOMB!” and Bruce said, “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! THIS ISN’T MUSIC!”
..Oh Bruce, your musical horizons must be broadened.

Of course, none can argue that this music video is fantastic.

By the way… “HIT IT MR. BUTTERS!”

Earworm: “Hurricane” by Thirty Seconds to Mars

Ah, Thirty Seconds to Mars. Your lyrics are enthralling and exciting and ignite that curiosity in your audience. A lot of people like to question the lyrics from any band, and some just like to memorize the lyrics and sing them by heart. With a lot of the songs from the album This Is War, you can only memorize certain lyrics due to the complexity. Lyrics that get stuck in your head and resound over and over and over again. That makes Hurricane today’s Earworm. These lyrics. Just… Echo.

“Tell me would you kill, to save a life?
Tell me would you kill, to prove you’re right?
Crash crash
Burn, let it all burn.
This hurricane chases us all under ground.

No matter how many deaths that I die, I will never forget.
No matter how many lives that I live, I will never regret.
There is a fire inside of this heart and a riot about to explode in flames.
Where is your God?
Where is your God?
Where is your God?”

Those are the lyrics I pretty much know by heart, of course the first stanza is the chorus.

Here’s the short film that is the music video for Hurricane. (WARNING: NSFW DUE TO NUDITY, PARTIAL NUDITY, VIOLENCE, AND GRAPHIC SEXUAL DEPICTIONS)

And here is the lyric video.

Earworm: “Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)” by The Wombats

Hey, everyone! The song stuck in my head today is Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves) by The Wombats.
It’s a catchy British indie rock tune, and it’s a song that’s been around for quite a while, now (released in 2010).
Sure, the song isn’t normally what I’d listen to, but it doesn’t hurt to expand your musical spectrum. I do have a few indie songs in my library, but I do mean very few. Less than 10, I believe. Maybe I should listen to the genre more?
The Wombats have been a band since 03, and it’s safe to say they have a steady fan-base worldwide, but I’d assume they’re more well known in Europe, considering they are a British indie rock band.

Oh, here’s the music video by the way.

(PLEASE READ. THE LIFESTYLE DEPICTED IN THE MUSIC VIDEO IS NOT, IN ANY MEANS, SUPPORTED BY THE BIG CHEESE AND I.)

Earworm: “By My Side” by David Choi

Ah, my first Earworm post (I was aiming to beat The Big Cheese to getting the absolute first Earworm post, but meh, this shall suffice). Feels good, I’d say. It’s good to let these things off our chest.

(For a more detailed explanation of what this whole Earworm series is to be, click here: https://justwroteablog.com/earworm/ )

Well, the song stuck in my head today, (and quite frankly, for the last few days) is By My Side by David Choi. I do plan on singing this, when the time comes, at my wedding. Too early to be deciding who that special woman is, but seriously, this is to be at my wedding.

Choi is a really talented Asian-American artist who has found his fame on YouTube. He generally composes ballads, and oh are they ever so sweet. By My Side, however, just takes the cake.

*The music video was produced by the wonderful Asian-American production company, Wong Fu Productions (Philip Wang, Ted Fu, and Wesley Chan). Check out their videos and have a good laugh!

Alex Clare – Too Close (Earworm)

As i’m sitting there, piping up some sink or something at work, and sort of not paying attention to whatever was playing on SiriusXM, my co-worker suddenly says; ” Oh, I like that song, turn it up!”

I look over, and for the 3rd time that day (the 14th of Aug.), this ‘Too Close’ by a one Alex Clare was playing.  I didn’t really pay attention to the first 2 times they played it, but now since my co-worker likes this song, I was more than inclined to pay attention to it a bit.  I have to say, not quite what I normally listen to, but it was pretty good.  Bit of a dub-step going on in there also.  He (my co-worker, which we shall call Marky-Mark) mentions that he first heard this from a commercial, of which he could not remember.  A quick google and voila, it was used in Microsofts IE spot.

In any case, I present to you our first earworm entry, Alex Clare – Too Close

and the commercial.

Suffice to say, it’s been stuck in my head since yesterday, and now I am interested in hearing more of what he’s got.
