End: 2012.

Guys, we did it.

We survived 2012, and we get to live the rest of our lives.

I think I’ll take the time to actually run through a list of things I accomplished this year. Trust me, it’ll be a short list.

  • Watched the Doctor Who revamp in completion and am up to date with the show at Series 7 part 2
  • Watched both series of the miniseries BBC Masterpiece: Sherlock and am actually not confused but awaiting the next series
  • Opened my ears to more musical genres
  • Hit 6 ft in height
  • Made the decision to strive for art as a career
  • Live without the past.

I can’t stress enough that 2012 may have been the most unexciting year in my life, but it really is the year that I felt most human. Most vulnerable and curious and obviously the year I felt most mature.

I’m glad to have been able to share my musical tastes with you, our audience. I hope to continue to update you of my Earworms and just things I find interesting.

Happy New Year, everyone!

My Challenge.

As 2012 comes to a close, people are starting to bring out their inevitably never-to-be-achieved New Year’s Resolutions.

I decided, screw resolutions. I challenged a couple of my friends to a friendly competition.

We’d been discussing for a bit about working out at home, not having access to gym memberships.

The challenge given? Just improve your overall health. Eat right, work out, and be happy. Losing weight is the aim, getting and staying fit is the final hope.

What are your resolutions/challenges for the New Year? Let us know!

Holidays are over

The holidays are over. What a shame it is, really. After this, people will go back to their regular everyday lives of not giving two hoots about family. And worse, no more gifts (unless your birthday is near, then you’d be lucky to have dinner bought for you)!!!!!!!!!!

It honestly did not even feel like Christmas arrived at all this year. Sure, the gifts were good, but that’s besides the point. I mean that I didn’t feel the warm, toasty loving feeling in the pit of my stomach that would force me to smile and run around screaming like a banshee.

I’m the oldest kid in the family, and so no one is really there to match my inner insanity besides The Big Cheese, but our insanity together gets toned down around la familia.

Anyway, no structure to this, just thoughts in a conglomerate. Next up, New Years, and then it’s back to normal.

Holiday Joy – or lack there of

Well, Christmas has come and gone. I hope everyone got what they were hoping to get and then some, and stayed safe throughout the process. Now it’s the time to start paying off those bills.
These past few holidays has been sub-par. I haven’t really felt all that Christmas spirit as of late. I guess with work, stressing what to gift to get to your special people, fending off the other holiday shoppers, figuring out food, logistics, it’s just not the same anymore as when you were younger. All you worry about is if you are going to get that cool new toy or gadget. This conversation has popped up one too many times this year, and I don’t know, I just can’t get into that holiday joy anymore.

Hopefully it will change next year.

Happy Holidays – Earworm – Holiday Road: Lyndsay Buckingham

From all of us (and when I say all, just myself and Patrick) here at IJWAB, we would like to wish everyone a safe and joyous holidays.

We leave you with this holiday classic song.

Apocalypse ….

So all this hub bub about the world ending today, well, I’m posting this now, so I guess it’s not going to happen. Great, now I have a lot of powdered milk, and powdered cheese to consume, and some spam also. I guess it’s cool, cause I didn’t get to stash up on Twinkies. How convenient was that, Twinkies ceased to exist, and they were said to have a shelf life of like a million years, and, the world didn’t end. When I woke up this morning though, it was very crappy weather, and, well, just seemed like apocalypse was sort of happening.

My co-worker, Marky Mark and I were talking about it, and well, we came to the conclusion that the Mayan that had the duty of making their calendar either ran out of stone, finally realized he had a shitty task, and quit, or he went for a break, and got attacked by a Jaguar or something. Maybe we should do the same thing, chisel some stone, and bury it somewhere only to have future generations find it and have them freak out. LoL.

Now I have some Holiday shopping to do, and doing it this weekend is pretty much suicide right there. Anywho, I found this t-shirt graphic that pretty much sums up what happened. I think it’s cool, and I might pick it up.

I survived!

Sleep.

It’s been a long while since I’ve actually gotten a full night of sleep. Every night, I drop dead at 1/1:30 just to wake up 5 or 6 hours later at 6/7.
Now, people seem to blame it on my ‘caffeine addiction.’ No, I can go without coffee. I’m not addicted. I love coffee, but I don’t depend on it to get through the day.
I’m just generally tired.
Everyday, I go walk 2 miles to get home. I have tons of homework to do as soon as I get home, and with or without procrastination, said work will take about 5 hours anyway.
People believe that I don’t get enough sleep because I try to take a two hour nap every day. Wrong. I sleep at the same time, every day.
I don’t get enough sleep because I’m overworked and as a young man need to balance a healthy social life.
Anyone have tips on how to better manage time?

My Thoughts on the CT Shooting

(Please, everyone, keep in mind, this is not the only tragedy to have occurred on Earth. Let’s all remember and hope the best for the families dealing with tragic losses worldwide, from shootings, natural disasters, accidents, and self inflicted harm.)

I am disgusted. Disgusted beyond belief. How can such a tragedy happen to innocent people?

The man couldn’t have been anything less than insane.

Keep your children safe, everyone. Shootings should NEVER happen, no matter the victims, no matter the place.

Pacquiao Down

I’m shocked. Bewildered and shocked. The first 8-division world champion, arguably one of boxing’s greatest, was put to sleep last night.

As a Filipino, it becomes a holiday when a Pacquiao fight comes around. We all gather at someone’s apartment or house or wherever and we feast until the main bout comes by. We sit there watching intently, screaming and shrieking and clapping and punching while our guy is winning.

Such is the case of the night of December 8th, 2012. While it technically was December 9th on the east coast, I’ll try not to confuse anyone.

Pacquiao was winning. Undoubtedly. He knocked down Marquez and put a beat down on him. According to his corner guy, however, Manny was straying away from the plan. I have a feeling Manny was right to stray away from the plan. But when he didn’t, boom. Lights out.

Manny was in the midst of flurries and just pounding an injured Marquez (broken nose, trouble breathing) that entire 6th round. He picked up the pace and went in for a kill shot last second. Too bad he was on the receiving end of that killshot. In a last ditch effort, Marquez tried to throw his signature right. The thunderous shot nailed Pacquiao. Next thing you know, we’re all gasping and silent, watching Jinkee Pacquiao rushing to the ring in tears.

How could this have happened to our main man? Why didn’t Pacman just back out? Why did he have to fight Marquez a fourth time? He won 2 out of 3 anyway!

I expect a fifth fight. Pacquiao can’t let this be his last.

Question: Do you like the new YouTube layout?

YouTube seems to have taken a major step in pushing subscriptions. When you subscribe to a YouTuber, their new videos get sent automatically to your subscription inbox. You primarily see the videos they upload.

You’ve always been able to do this. YouTube has always been about the user and the subscriber, sharing videos, ultimately in a way that you get to watch things that you want to watch without having to try.

Usually, YouTube does a great job with their subscriptions, albeit there are some discrepancies. Sometimes the videos don’t get pushed to your subscription inbox.

What has YouTube done that makes me want to spark this discussion? They’ve changed their entire layout. They’ve introduced something called the guide, where they are heavily pushing your subscriptions to avoid these discrepancies.

I personally like this guide concept. The new minimalist approach to YouTube is stellar. I love the way it looks (on different computers, it may look different. On my Google Chrome on my Windows 7, it looks beautiful. It happens to look horrendous on Google Chrome on my Linux Ubuntu 11.) and is definitely a good improvement.

I really do wish, however, that they implemented the use of themes. Maybe a dark theme, because there is so much white space, and that looks terrible on HD monitors.

What do you guys think? Let us know how you feel about the new YouTube layout in the comment section!
