Capcom to open up Biohazard Cafe in Japan (Resident Evil to us folks here)

They can devour me anyday

They can devour me anyday

I’m not for themed restaurant, but I sure will visit here, if it’s still open, if and when I do visit the land of the rising sun.  I’m sure Cheesecake will want to do as well, as we are pretty big RE heads.

Laggy Computers: Rant

Cheap computers. The Big Cheese hasn’t exactly built a cheap PC, but he’s built one he can afford and not scream at himself for it.

I, on the other hand, am here typing on my extremely incompetent hunk-o-junk purchased by my father two Black Friday’s ago.

While yes, it can handle everyday tasks like browsing the interwebs, typing up documents, watching movies/listening to music, all that stuff. But it can’t handle any of it if you run two at a time.

I personally opt for Google Chrome as my web browser because I know it’s damn stable. I usually have Facebook and Tumblr open at all times and using Spotify for my music needs. Maybe I’ll have Google Drive open on a third tab so I can type up a report or draft a new article or blog piece. That’ll all be fine, but if those 4 things are happening, scrolling up and down becomes a shit hole, typing has a 4 second delay, and music will buffer about 95% of the time. What’s the point of being able to have multiple tabs open if you can’t seamlessly go through the multiple tabs? I might as well be using a 90’s Mac.

The worst, however, is trying to edit pictures. Lightroom is a big, big, big, big, big application. I understand that. But if I have Facebook open (JUST FACEBOOK), Lightroom will cause my computer to overload. I can’t scroll, I can’t type, I can’t do ANYTHING but wait for the thing to load.

If the computer could run more than three applications at a time, I’d be so happy.

I failed to mention earlier that the computer didn’t even come with built in WiFi. Since it is in my basement, it has no ethernet cable to connect to either. We had to purchase a separate WiFi key, which upon start, does not even connect to the correct WiFi location (and trust me, I’ve tried COUNTLESS times to reset it and get it to connect to the correct one).

I wish I could afford to build a new computer like The Big Cheese.

As an impatient teenager, this is hell. No one likes hell.

Taylor Swift – Trouble: Goat edition

This is not really an earworm, but something funny and to break up the dullness of the day. I saw this a few day’s ago, and it’s been making the rounds across the interwebs. I even heard it this AM on the Scott & Todd Morning show on WPLJ. Everytime you hear the original song, you can’t help but think of this version.

New Toys

So, I’ve been on the market for a new mouse, gaming mouse, since my regular mouse hurt my hand after a good amount of  playing, and well, it wasn’t just up to par playing MMO’s.  It’s a nice idea to have some buttons within thumbs reach on one hand, just to get an attack or a heal out in the thick of things.  I almost bit the bullet last week on a Mad Catz R.A.T. 7, with full customization’s on the shape and feel of the mouse, the only downside was, that it was wired.  It was also on sale at Best Buy for $79.99 and I had some Best Buy Rewards money, so it would’ve cost me well under what it normally sells for out of pocket.

Well, I ended up procrastinating, and the wired-ness of it turned me off a bit.  I ended up going back to BB today, and check out if it was still on sale, and it wasn’t, BUT the Logitech G700 wireless gaming mouse was, and for a lot cheaper, $59.99.  So I jumped on it.  I just finished installing it, and it is a lot nicer to hold than my previous mouse, and more closer to feel to my old Logitech MX Revolution laser mouse.  (I loved that thing).  I haven’t had a chance to try it on SWTOR yet, maybe later.

While I was at Best Buy, I decided to pre-order the next Tomb Raider, due out next week.  I have been keeping my eye out for this game, as it’s a reboot, and they made Lara Croft more, realistic per-say.  I also picked up Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on the recommendation of NekkedSnake.  I’m gonna go eat dinner and try this out real quick, and will post up an initial thought’s segment, and let you know how the first few minutes or first hour is of the game.  I want to get it done by next week, so I can have more time to dedicate on Tomb Raider.

My new items

My new items

My game’s list is quickly filling, with SWTOR, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and now Metal Gear Rising, I won’t have much time to do anything else.  I can’t even list the other games I have pending, and I won’t even mention the fact that myself and Cheesecake are still playing RE 6.  But this will provide more content for you, our readers.

Konami code strikes again

Chromebook Pixel

Chromebook Pixel

I read this over on Engadget, apparently a video game geek over at Google decided to put an easter egg on Google’s spiffy new laptop, the Chromebook Pixel.  Input in Konami‘s legendary code, and you will be rewarded with a light show from it’s LED lights.  I have yet to see a video of it in action, but over at Wired.com, they have an animated gif that shows off the light show.  I am in the market for a notebook, and this pixel will seriously be in my short list.

Funny Honda president’s day commercial.

My GF brought this to my attention, and it’s quite funny.  Lyrics are very witty, and it’s reminiscent of Justin Timerblake and Andy Samburg’s digital shorts on SNL.

Pop Culture’s Coolest Cars

Saw this list on Top Gear’s FB page.

One of my favorite all time pop culture vehicles was The DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future, It was a great mix of fantasy and reality.

Another favorite, at least when I was a child, was Tim Burton‘s Batman Batmobile.  At the time, I thought it was the coolest rendition, befitting the caped crusader.  I think to this day it still stand’s up, compared to the Joel Shumacher Batmobile’s, and even the Tumbler from Crhistopher Nolan’s series.

Breaking My Phone.

This is my third Droid Incredible 2 by HTC. I have so many gripes with it.

A) Single core processor, so it lags like all hell.

B) 3G, so it’s a bit on the slow side.

C) The charging port is extremely fragile, and if you actually use your Dinc2, you will break it.

D) It’s stuck (as of now, and probably for the rest of its damned existence) with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. (refer to my posts from before)

Now, my contract with Verizon isn’t ending for quite a while  (I’m eligible for an upgrade in May), and it really has been a terrible experience with this phone.

My phone died (became utterly useless because of charging port issues) twice in the first 10 months, and it has happened again, but that’s not the actual problem that is rendering this damned phone useless for a third (and hopefully, final) time.

This time, it just does not want to stay turned on, even with battery. I’ll be in the middle of composing a tweet or maybe texting someone, lock the screen and go do something, and then when I go to finish what I’d started, the phone screen would be black entirely, and I’d end up having to do hard resets (battery pulls).

Apparently, this is a problem with many HTC devices (which, of course, furthers my relationship with the Taiwanese company) such as the first Droid Incredible and the HTC Thunderbolt.

Safe to say, I’ll be steering clear of any HTC devices in the future (I personally don’t like the bulky Sense UI nor do I like how light it is compared to the darkness of stock Android).

At this point, I’ve highly considered suspending this phone line without billing (which is a period of 90 days, maximum of twice in a 12 month period, which would give me enough time to cancel this line) and add a new line with new two year contract and get that oh-so-beautiful Samsung Galaxy S III in black for $70 via Amazon Wireless.

My best option, however, is to graciously receive The Big Cheese’s old Droid Bionic (which, as you may know, he hates due to extreme bugs) and wait until my upgrade period begins in May so that I can pick up something like the ever anticipated Samsung Galaxy S 4, or if it is cheap enough, the Galaxy Note 2.

My worst case scenario would be to scour for an iPhone 5 for Verizon with a clean ESN (good luck to me, right?). Worst case because I really REALLY dislike iPhones. REALLY.

Something I Need

I need my favorite show(s) to air already.

Top Gear UK (in my opinion, the only Top Gear that should be around) has begun airing series 19, and they don’t cease to disappoint.

Well, as you see, my favorite shows are those from the BBC. Doctor Who, Top Gear, and Sherlock compose of my Top 3 live action shows.

Sherlock, I believe, hasn’t even begun shooting the 3rd series (someone correct me if I’m wrong) due to Martin Freeman (Dr. John Watson) just finishing with all the hullabaloo of The Hobbit.

So, here I am, waiting for Series 7 Part 2 of Doctor Who. My last taste of the longest running sci-fi show in history was the last episode of the series to date, which introduced a new companion for that maniacal alien.

The writers for the show are genius (and actually, also write the adapted stories for Sherlock) and pretty much fill my brain with new ideas. I need the shows back to occupy my brain!

Anyway.

Top Gear is back with a new title intro, and Doctor Who has done the same. I can’t actually find a video that showcases all the title intros for Top Gear, but I have found one for Doctor Who. So, enjoy. (Don’t mind this space. This space right here, within the confines of these parentheses, are for the future embed link that I shall procure for all of you in the future that showcases the title intros for Top Gear)

Build update – HIS Radeon 7850 is in!

My HIS Radeon 7850 came in a day after I had ordered it from Newegg, and the reviews on the site were right.  I tried Metro2033 on 1920×1080 and on on max settings, as well as Star Wars: The Old Republic, again on all max settings, and it ran without a a hitch.  As of now, I am totally pleased with how this build has come together, and how it’s running.  I might upgrade my sound card soon, and maybe go water cooling, just because the fan on the Cooler Master heatsink/fan is noisy.  Will pick up another 2 TB of HDD storage (to replace an aging 750 GB and a 1 TB drive) as well as a BD burner optical drive to round off and complete the build as is.  But as of now, the core components are in, and running smoothly.  Time to install Photoshop and Lightroom to see how they do.
