Well this certainly was unexpected. It looks like exclusive content won’t be the only thing MGS fans will be able to get their hands on once MGSV: Ground Zeroes finally drops this Spring 2014. Along with the Deja Vu (PS3/4) and Jamais Vu (360/One) exclusive content that will be available it seems Hideo Kojima has partnered up with PUMA to put together a Limited Edition Diamond Dogs jacket dubbed MGSV: Ground Forces. The jacket will be available for PS3, PS4, and 360 versions of the bundle.
Looks like another MGSV Ground Zeroes gameplay trailers is making the rounds this week. This version is gameplay from Xbox One and is actually gameplay footage from previous trailers that we’ve seen in weeks prior. This time Kojima‘s right hand man, Sean Eyestone, is narrating for us the viewers and giving us the rundown on the things gamers will he able to do in Ground Zeroes. So Kojima finally let the cat out of the bag about the MGSV Ground Zeroes exclusive content for Xbox and Xbox One. It centers on a mission, “Jamais Vu“, that players will be sent to, investigating unusual activity on a base (most likely Camp Omega). We can hear Kaz Miller in the trailer talk about “Body Snatchers” and events that are out of this world. But we won’t join Snake on this mission. Instead, Snake himself, appoints a familiar face to the MGS franchise, Raiden! Though, it’s not just Raiden, but MG Rising: Revengeance Raiden, with all his cyborg adornments.
In the trailer Snake presents Raiden with his signature HF Blade, but is also given what looks like an assault rifle, similar to the one Snake carries with him on his missions in previous Ground Zeroes gameplay trailers. This coincides with the gunplay that is demonstrated in the trailer.

I have to say, this exclusive Xbox content is a few levels better that what Playstation owners are getting. You get MGR Raiden dressed up with Kojima’s proprietary FOX Engine. You get MGR Raiden with MGS style gunplay, not that dinky shooting mechanic that Rising Revengeance is stuck with. You get to run around in a cool sounding mission that deals with FRIGGIN BODY SNATCHERS! For those familiar with Hideo Kojima’s body of work, he’s worked on a cult classic game called Snatcher, which is an amalgamation of movies like Blade Runner, Terminator, and Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. The Jamais Vu mission seems like a loose take on some of Snatcher’s elements and storyline.
What do PS3/4 users get? A blockhead running around a base trying to save a guy (Donald Anderson/Sigint) who we’ve already met in at least 3 prior games. Nothing really new at all. Well, my initial disappointment went from WTF to Meh, anyway. I own both current (last) gen consoles so I’ll be picking up the 360 version of Ground Zeroes anyway. Honestly though, all this exclusivity makes things silly. Kojima is already producing MGS games for BOTH systems. Why break up the continuity with “exclusive content”? IMO Kojima’s seminal series would benefit more if BOTH the Deja Vu mission (PS3/4) and the newly announced Jamais Vu mission (360/One) were on BOTH consoles from the beginning. It would certainly benefit MGS fans, and gamers in general. In each case, those who only own one console will be alienated and lose out on the gaming experience from lack of content. Who knows? Maybe these two missions will turn up as DLC for one another.

Joel McHale co hosted with Geoff Keighley of Spike TV. McHale is hilarious! At one point they were interviewing Gearbox and Telltale devs and he was making random dry humor comments (as he always does) that Geoff was gritting his teeth thru Effectively making Geoff look kind of dull and boring. I could visibly see Geoff being pissed off at every sentence Joel was saying. This was probably because McHale didn’t seem to take the VGX as seriously as Keighley did, thereby invoking a slight tone of displeasure from him. Brownie points! Another interview had the makeshift duo chatting up two individuals involved with the rebooted Tomb Raider, one dev and more importantly Camilla Luddington. More snarky humor and lots of Joel/Cammy (Joel’s new pet name for Lara’s voice actor) chemistry made Geoff look like a third wheel. Bonus!
I’ll say this though; adding McHale as a co host to VGX undercuts the point of even talking about the relevance of video games in the first place. He’s a comedian dripping with sarcasm so there’s nothing much more to expect. Might as well have David Blaine co host and pull a PS3 out of a rabbit’s ass. They’re both not of the gaming world. But still, I’m a fan. So the inclusion of Joel McHale? Genius!!

I wanted to take a little time away from console gaming to focus a bit on the little friend in our pockets. No no, not that little friend. Get your minds out the gutter! My friends, I’m talking about some mobile gaming.
With the dawn of the next generation now becoming current gen, pushing the once-current to last gen, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the game pads that accompany these new fangled toys of 2013 and beyond.
My (other) baby finally came today! She looks amazing! As I first held her in my hand I let out an audible, “Niiiiiice” and marveled at her craftsmanship. She is a real beauty. Before y’all start wondering, NO I didn’t just have another baby. My current little terrorist is quite a handful. Ladies and gents, I am the proud owner of a new HTC One.

In all the whirlwind about the unfortunate accident that happened last weekend, I just wanted to mention (prolly something that we all know at this point) that Roger Rodas was also in the accident with Paul Walker. He and Walker have been friends for over a decade and helped put together Reach Out Worldwide, the charity organization that helps victims of catastrophic events such as those who were effected in the Philippines by hurricane Haiyan. Rodas was also a car enthusiast who enjoyed fine automobiles.

I came upon some sad news tonight. Actor Paul Walker, best known for starring in the Fast & Furious movies has died today in a deadly car crash. Reports say that he died while driving his Porsche at a car show charity event on Saturday November 30 2013 (today for us in the east coast). It’s been confirmed by multiple outlets including TMZ, Variety, US Magazine, and FOX News. The unfortunate aftermath can be seen here.
Honestly I thought it was a hoax at first. Celebs are susceptible to hoaxes of this nature, especially high profile actors such as Walker, himself. My wife came to me and blurted out, “Paul Walker died!” All I could say was, “Bullshit!” I’m always in need of cold hard facts, especially when it comes to conspiracies or hoaxes. When things make the rounds on the net, I have a tendency to smell BS until the truth about anything is confirmed. I was in a state of denial (still kind of am) about this because, obviously I don’t want it to be true. Walker was one of my fave actors, and the FAST franchise is one of my faves as well. And while I know he’s just an actor which potentially trivializes this sad event, he came off as just a normal human being who just happened to be an actor. He seemed pretty down to earth and the characters he played in all his movies seemed just as level headed, which made him very relatable, for me anyway. Yes, he was a celeb, but didn’t let that notoriety go to his head. He’s been a car enthusiast for years, did BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), and did charity events, just as this one, letting people do test drives in his Porsche.
It’s a pretty sad thing when anyone passes one, celeb or otherwise. And people die everyday. I suppose Paul Walker was just one of those who, at 40 years of age, gets put along with those individuals who have had their flames extinguished all too early. My personal tribute (if I can call it that anyway) will be to do a Fast & Furious marathon and watch the first six FAST movies.
Rest In Peace, Roger Rodas and Paul Walker aka Brian O’Connor aka Buster. You both will be missed.
