Earworm: “Canned Heat” – Jamiroquai

For some reason this song has been stuck in my head for a few days.  I recently heard it on Sirius XM, and it sort of brought me back to one of my favorite movies of all time, Napoleon Dynamite. Jon Heder doing that dance to this song is just EPIC.  JayKay also happens to be a big gear head and has made multiple appearances on one of my favorite TV shows of all time, Top Gear.

Anyway, the song is way trippy, as is the video.  It’s just a joy to listen to, puts you in a sort of feel good mood.  I don’t know, i’ve listened to it a few times over the past few days and it has made me feel a bit better.

And as an extra, Jon Heder’s EPIC performance from Napoleon Dynamite.

My then usual nightly beverage, well it still is technically, but now instead of a Venti, it’s a Trenta. What is it?
it’s a passion Iced tea, no water, light on the ice, 2 equals. My home Starbucks, in Branchburg, NJ is the only place that gets it right, well, most of the barista’s get the mix right, although now, some have moved on, the newer ones still haven’t quite got the mixture right.

This drink I order from here exclusively, as they are the only ones to get it right.

RE6

Resident Evil 6 – Initial Thoughts

RE6

Finally a new game to waste time on with Cheesecake.

It has finally come, RE6, a game Cheesecake and I have been eagerly awaiting since it’s announcement.  We’ve played countless hours of RE5, Practically getting everything that there is to get in the main games campaign.

We’ve tried other co-op games, but none gave us the satisfaction that RE5 provided us with.  I actually forgot that today was the release date for RE6. I  thought it was another week or so away.  I just happen to stop by a Best Buy during my lunch hour, and, there it was.  I picked it up on my way home, and not too long ago, I just finished playing through the ‘tutorial’ stage.

My first impressions? It still somewhat feels like RE5, controls wise, although now I can aim AND move.  Also during the tutorial stage, there was a lot of my ever so favourite quick time events.  (sarcasm)  Not a fan of them in any shape or form in any game, BUT it does keep you on your toes.  The graphics look gorgeous.  Textures look a lot better than they did of RE5.  Voice acting and sound effects were just as good as it was from RE5.

Initial response to the game by the media is really mixed.  Some gave it really great reviews, some gave it extremely bad reviews, and most gave it ‘meh’ reviews.  [Read snippets of some reviews from CVG].  The same was said about RE5, and RE:ORC.  They were both decent games that provided hours of frustrations and entertainment.  And that in my book is a win.

This weekend, Cheesecake and I will be playing it co-op style (not Gangnam…..yeah, I went there) and we’ll give you our semi-in depth take on it. You know what, maybe we might just go blog about it after each play session.  We’ll see if this is worthy of losing the game.

Stay tuned!

Another “test” shot of my then new Canon Powerhot S95. This time trying out the HDR capabilities. Honestly, I cannot say how I like it, as I personally am not that crazy with HDR shots to begin with. I guess it can have some uses if done in the right circumstances.

Earworm: “This is Gallifrey”/”Vale Decem” composed by Murray Gold

Doctor Who. An epic show. The longest running sci-fi show in history, in fact.

Every season of this epic show holds an epic official soundtrack, and Murray Gold hasn’t failed to deliver with his compositions.

Two of my many favorite compositions are “This is Gallifrey” and “Vale Decem,” songs that were used to send off David Tennant, the 10th reincarnation of The Doctor.

Lo and behold, Doctor Who Prom performed those two back-to-back in 2010. I am pleased beyond imagination.

Quite surprised I was able to hand hold this and get a fairly sharp shot.
it’s my old VW Rabbit’s dash, and I revved up the engine on the end of the exposure to get that trail on the tachometer needle.

Nigri For a Cause.

We all love Jessica Nigri. A beautiful girl that loves video games and cosplaying. Damn.

Philip DeFranco, one of my favorite YouTubers, is starting a new project. And to help kickstart said project, he filmed with Jessica Nigri.

Be prepared for some tight-clothed awesomeness.

New Star Wars Trilogy?

Just saw this on my news feed on my FB, and clicked on the link.  I nope this is all true, because this news excites me.

Something a Mets fan can be proud about.

Being a Mets fan for all my life, I’ve seen them do great, tremendous even. I’ve seen them one step away from the pedestal of victory. I’ve shed tears of despair. I’ve seen their collapse and all the more recent struggles the Flushing bats have gone through.

Winning isn’t everything, but it is important. The Mets haven’t won a World Series since 1986, but they’ve been so close. A fan doesn’t just take pride in winning, however. Especially if you’re a Mets fan. It’s a rare event to be proud of them winning, because of the rarity of a win.

But this year, even if the Mets haven’t made it to the playoffs, this year is a proud year.

First, Johan Santana threw the first no-hitter in Mets history.

Then, knuckleballer R.A. Dickey throws several one-hit games, unbelievably close to a no-no every time.

But Dickey was consistent. He won. Numerous times. 20 times, in fact. The guy became an ace. The Mets’ go-to starter. Dickey is the first Mets pitcher in 22 years to be a 20 game winner. That’s something a Mets fan can be proud about. Even through all the struggles, the years since a playoff berth, the World Series championship drought… With this bright (but lets face it, a soon to be fading) light named R.A. Dickey, we can be proud.

This was sort of an ad I did for a friend of a friend that owned a bakery. We did an impromtpu shoot of her cakes and what not, some of it ended up in their website. I wasn’t commisioned to do the ad, but I thought it would’ve been fun anyway, and this particular picture was one of my favorites from that shoot.

Sadly, the product itself is not edible, as it was simply made to look pretty.
