Earworm: “Math Suks” by Jimmy Buffett

Okay, I’ll admit. This song isn’t actually stuck in my head because of the tune. Quite frankly, I hate this song. It sucks just as badly as math does. My trigonometry teacher has a sign on her desk that says, “Math suks,” and at least 9 people asked about it. She had to explain it so many times that it has been implanted in my head. What a great memory for the first day of school.

Earworm: School week special – “Informer” Snow

In celebration of the start of the new school year, (although i’m not sure if it really is a celebration for some.) this weeks Earworms will be based on songs that reminds us of school.  Not so much as songs about school, but songs that when we hear them, reminds us of the day’s that’s gone by.  Well for me at least, Cheesecake is still in school, so i’m not sure how good he’ll do with our special.

In any case, let me get things started.  My first entry is Snow’s Informer, which was released back in 1992.  It just reminds me of when I was in 8th grade, listening to it at my friend’s house after school, and hearing the ‘cool’ kids singing it or what not.  To this day, it just takes me back to those day’s when I hear this song.

I still like hearing it every now and then, but for the past 10 minutes, it’s been looping in another tab on you tube, and it’s kinda annoying now.

So, I ask this to our ten’s of readers, what song brings you back to the good ole’ days.

My first shot at a reblog for this blog. Personally, one of my favorite shows, all-time, hands down. Series 7 premiered last Saturday, and I would love to share it with you guys. Oh, and Jenna Louise Coleman is smoking hot. Can we all agree?

So, the season premiere of Doctor Who has aired and the internet is a-buzz with talk about the BIG REVEAL. But what I wanted to look at in this post is how many of Steven Moffat’s previous story ideas have been recycled for Asylum Of The Daleks.

Moffat’s re-used themes and ideas from his earlier episodes in the past. The Eleventh Hour was practically riddled with quotes and throwbacks to episodes of Doctor Who that Moffat had written while Russell T Davies was showrunner. Here are five ways Asylum Of The Daleks ‘borrows’ from earlier ideas…

Random Flickr Photo of the Day

Another shot from 2009, I had a lot of time then, as the company I worked for cut back our hours so that everyone can stay employed, and not have anyone get laid off, so to make good use of that extra found free day, I did some photography.  I should honestly find a way to do this again, even if it’s a few shots a day.  I do tend to get rusty, and looking at my shot list this year, it’s severely down from my usual 10k or shots a year.

Anyway, this shot was from a fine spring day in Central Park, NYC, it was quite gloomy, but I still somehow managed to squeeze off a few shots. This particular frame is a weeping willow, somewhere in the park.  I did some processing fun with Lightroom, and managed to produce this.

In addition to my random Flickr Photos, I will start posting my shot with the most hits of the day.

Today’s shot is the lovely Jessica Nigri interviewing a fellow cos-playing as Super Saiyajin 3 Son Gokou of Dragon Ball Z.

Another oldy, but goody.  Shot in 2009 with my trusty old Pentax K-20D (honestly, I don’t know why I don’t use this body more often), it’s a simple shot of an old door at my aunt’s place, leaning, spent, and well used.

I don’t have much else of a story behind this shot, I just found it visually pleasing.

Earworm: “Goodnight Moon” by Go Radio.

Guys, I’m really sorry that I’ve been slacking on my posts. I went stagnant, had to deal with a bunch of kids this past weekend, and I really have to get back on my grind. So here it is, my Earworm for today.

Just a soothing tune, a song to calm the mind and relax with. A ballad for lovers and the hopelessly romantic.

But damn, is this a good song. Go Radio is a rock band from Florida, formed by former vocalist/guitarist/lyricist of Mayday Parade, Jason Lancaster. The dude has an angelic voice, and I think that, along with the piano ringing in the background, makes the whole song.

I found out about this song way back when, around last Halloween, I believe. And I have never truly gotten rid of it in my mind.

(Yes, the children’s story, “Goodnight Moon,” inspired the song.)

I shot this sometime ago, it was quite a rainy day, and I didn’t get much shooting done cause of it.
I was trying out my Pentax M50 lens, possible one of my favorite lenses in my bag, so sharp, and poppy.
The bird caught my eye, as he’s trying to take some shelter underneath the chair from all this rain. I wish I could have gotten closer.

Earworm: Little Talks – Of Monsters and Men

I’ve heard this song a few times over the last few days, and it’s been resonating in my head for some time now. Finally had a chance to look at the video, and it’s a bit trippy. I think everyone will enjoy it. The song is also, very soothing to say the least, to me anyway.

I think every so often, i’ll just post up a random Flickr Photo from my photostream, maybe to showcase some of my work.  I seriously want to do more work as a photographer, and maybe this will be a good way for me to get my feet wet some more.

First up, I shot this photograph some years ago, having just picked up a Super Takumar 135mm Screw mount for my Pentax K10d. I was sitting in the couch at our old place in NY.  The result was a silhouette of this plant we had on the window sill with a super buttery smooth bokeh.

I should try to use this lens more.
